National and Public Holidays for 2011 and 2012

Below are the National and Public holidays for 2011 and 2012.

Shopping during National and Public Holidays

Most shops are closed on these days. If you are staying in a self-catering apartment, we advise that you avoid shopping for food and other necessary items on the day before a public or national holiday as shops and supermarkets are usually very busy, and ca run out of certain items. In some districts of Budapest, it is possible to find 24-hour, non-stop shops open on these days, however it is not recommended to rely on finding anything open, especially on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.
